| A lot
has happened since our last newsletter! G/S Architects was the recipient
of an International Interior Design Association Citation Award for
the design of the Crane Building Penthouse. The Hellberg / Tierney
House was featured on the Lake Oswego Historic Homes Tour. We were
selected to represent the State of Oregon in the upcoming book “50
US Architects.” Projects to be featured in the book will include
The Leftwich Residence, Hollcroft Residence and The Walnut House.
Also in the press, the Fritz Kitchen was featured in Portrait of Portland
and the Crane Building Penthouse will be featured in the upcoming
winter issue of Luxury Home Quarterly. In addition to all of this,
we’ve had a number of projects begin construction or have recently
been completed. |

Residence |
| |
| A few
of our recently completed projects include the Edic Residence, Thomas
Residence and an art studio for artist Kristin Fritz. The Edic Residence
is a fine example of a mid-century courtyard house and will be featured
in the upcoming fall issue of Portrait of Portland magazine. |

| Thomas
Residence |
| |
| The
Thomas Residence, a 1939 Laurelhurst Colonial, was a two-part project
with the first phase being an exterior renovation and the second being
a complete kitchen remodel and addition. This project is an excellent
example of creating a modern open kitchen that merges today’s
sensibilities with the details and aesthetic of a classic Portland
colonial. Jennifer Guggenheim of Fig Studio was the interior designer
on the project. |

| Artist
Kristin Fritz asked us to design an art studio following our design
of her kitchen remodel. Nestled amongst the redwoods in the backyard
of her 1960s NW modern home, the new art studio takes full advantage
of both the beautiful site and the opportunity to embody the bright,
open and creative space desired by Kristin. |

| The
Van Adelsberg / Grant Residence will be featured on the Portland Architectural
and Design Festival’s Home Tour taking place October 1st. The
original, mid-70s contemporary, 1 bedroom house was designed by Edgar
Waehrer. In keeping with the original spirit of the “house in
the trees,” the new design adds 2 bedrooms, a home office and
expands the interior spaces while retaining its original contemporary
northwest form. After completing the house, G/S Architects was hired
to design a detached art studio for the house. The new art studio
will create a private yet dramatic courtyard entry. The studio will
be nearing the final stages of construction during the home tour.
Tickets and additional information for the home tour can be found
at: www.aiaportland.org. |
